COD Football sophomore wide receiver Myles Goulbourne (Waterbury (CT) Crosby) has signed a letter of intent with the Indiana State University.

Named first team All-Mountain Conference offense, Goulbourne finished in the top 10 in California in receptions with 61 catches, totaling 625 yards and eight touchdowns. He progressed nicely as the season rolled on and in the final two regular season home games, Goulbourne grabbed 95 yards and 106 yards respectively, along with 5 total scores for both games. In 5 of the 6 Desert victories over the 2016 season, Goulbourne had at least one visit to the end zone. 

Under third-year head coach Jack Steptoe, Desert finished the regular season with a record 6-5 overall and 4-1 in conference. As a reward for winning the American Division-Mountain Conference title and going to the Patriotic Bowl, Coach Steptoe was handed Coach of the Year honors.

This is the first Coach of the Year award for head coach Jack Steptoe, who is in his 23rd season overall, who guided the Roadrunners past their 0-2 start, turning their fortunes around immediately, securing their first Bowl appearance since 2011. As a reward for their winning record, the team was bestowed with six first team All-Mountain Conference honors, including the Conference Defensive MVP and five second team All-Mountain Conference honors.

Indiana State University is located in Terre Haute, Indiana, which is about 6 miles east of the Indiana-Illinois border and about 75 southwest of Indianapolis. The ISU Sycamores play at Memorial Stadium, and the team is coached by first-year head coach, Curt Mallory. In the 2016 season, the Sycamores went 2-6 in conference play, with an overall record of 4-7. Indiana State is in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) of NCAA Division I FCS.
