COD Women’s Basketball fights hard against Comets, 94-45

COD (3-17; 0-3) had a hard time figuring out the #4 team in the state as they fell to the San Marcos Palomar Comets (19-2; 3-0), 94-45.

The Comets would go on a 17-0 run to wrap up the first quarter and it was tough to catch-up for the Roadrunners, as they put together a much improved second quarter to go into the half, with Palomar up 55-25.

The third quarter was much better defensively as the Roadrunners held off Palomar and went on an impressive 7-1 run midway through the quarter, the Comets squeaked by Desert in the quarter 14-12.

Sophomore starting forward Lexie Jackson (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 18 points on 6 of 13 shooting from the field and was a near perfect 5 of 7 from the free throw line, adding three more blocks to her already impressive season. She missed a double-double by one rebound, still leading the team with nine boards on the night.

Freshman starting guard Mercades Young (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) added nine points on 3 of 10 shooting, going 2 of 7 from beyond the arc and leading the team in assists with three.
