COD Beach Volley splits Spartans and Comets, prepares for PCAC Individuals

COD (11-7; 4-6) was swept by the MiraCosta Spartans (15-7; 7-3), 5-0, before knocking off the Palomar Comets (2-14; 0-10), 3-2, as they head to the PCAC Individual Tournament.

In the first match of the event, Desert was unable win the battle against the Spartans. MiraCosta is placed second in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference under undefeated Grossmont. The Spartans would blank the Roadrunners, taking the team win, 5-0.

The next match for Desert sealed a 2019 season sweep against Palomar. The "threes" team of freshman Kendal Faynor (British Columbia Semiahoo Secondary) and sophomore Naomi Garcia (Rancho Mirage H.S.) grabbed the first victory in straight sets, shutting out the Comets, 21-6 and 21-10. The "fours" team of sophomore Shay Mesa (Indio Shadow Hills) and sophomore Nicole Svoboda (La Quinta H.S.) claimed another win for the Roadrunners in straight sets, 21-8 and 21-15. Sealing the team victory for Desert, the "fives" team of sophomore Baylie Dashner (La Quinta H.S.) and sophomore Emily Sundback (Rancho Mirage H.S.) knocked off Palomar, 21-13 and 21-6.

The next event for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Wednesday, April 24th beginning at 10 a.m., in San Diego, where they will compete in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Individual Tournament.
