COD Baseball: Walla signs letter with Benedictine Mesa
COD Baseball right-handed pitcher Richard Walla (Indio Shadow Hills) has signed a letter of intent with Benedictine University Mesa in Arizona.
COD Baseball right-handed pitcher Richard Walla (Indio Shadow Hills) has signed a letter of intent with Benedictine University Mesa in Arizona.
The 6-2, 195-pound right hander was used in both starting and relieving roles in 2019, his only season with the Roadrunners. In 12 appearances for the Roadrunners, Walla grabbed two wins and eight strikeouts in 22.2 innings pitched.
Walla will join fellow 2019 Roadrunners Baseball teammates, third baseman Mario Ramirez (Rancho Mirage H.S.), outfielder Joshua Hernandez (Palm Desert H.S.) and second baseman Christopher Burke (Temecula Valley), at Benedictine University Mesa. Burke and Hernandez signed with the Redhawks in 2020 and Ramirez signed with BenU on January 16, 2021.
Benedictine University Mesa is located in Mesa, Arizona which is about 20 miles east of Phoenix. The BenU Redhawks play at Gene Autry Park and the team is coached by 3rd year head coach, Brian McCabe. In the 2021 season, the Redhawks are 14-5 in conference play, with an overall record of 28-12, the team is beginning the Cal Pac Tournament in Lancaster on May 10. Benedictine University Mesa is in the California Pacific Conference of the NAIA.
