College of the Desert Baseball assistant coach and strength & conditioning coordinator Phil Dimas has accepted a new role as the Director of Player Development at the University of New Mexico, effective August 12.
Dimas spent the past four seasons on the Roadrunners staff, where he not only coached but also launched the program's first-ever strength and conditioning program in 2021. His impact has been felt on and off the field, helping COD student-athletes elevate their game through training, discipline, and player development.
A Tucson, Arizona native, Dimas graduated from Tanque Verde High School in 2017 before continuing his playing career at multiple colleges, including a sophomore season at College of the Desert during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. He has his Bachelor of Science in Human Performance with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning, while holding multiple industry certifications. In addition to his collegiate coaching career, Dimas has worked privately with more than 150 college and professional athletes over the past seven years.
The Roadrunners thank Coach Dimas for his dedication, energy, and commitment to COD Baseball, and wish him continued success with the Lobos.
The University of New Mexico is a member of the Mountain West Conference at the NC2A Division I level. UNM closed out its 2025 campaign with a 30-23 overall record, finishing 17-13 in conference play for third place in the Mountain West standings.
