The College of the Desert Athletics Department is proud to announce that former Roadrunner outfielder Brian Parry has signed a professional baseball contract with the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League.
A Redlands native, Parry joined COD for the 2022 season after spending his COVID year at Cuesta College. He quickly emerged as a key contributor, helping lead the Roadrunners to their first conference championship in 51 years. That season, Parry earned Second Team All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference honors while appearing in 37 games and recording 16 multi-hit performances. His standout moment came in a game at San Bernardino Valley, where he delivered a 5-hit, 3-RBI game, showcasing his offensive potential.
Following his success at COD, Parry transferred to Minot State University, where he competed during the 2024 season and helped the Beavers reach the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. He then continued his upward trajectory at Ottawa University (KS), where he played his senior season in 2025. The Braves posted a 39–16 record and advanced to the NAIA Opening Round.
"College of the Desert was a huge turning point for me," Parry said. "It helped me grow not just as a player, but as a person. The coaching, the competition, and the expectations prepared me to succeed at a four-year school and gave me the confidence to keep pushing toward my goal of playing professionally."
COD Head Coach Sam DiMatteo praised Parry's development and work ethic: "Brian is a great example of what development looks like at COD," DiMatteo said. "He came in hungry, committed himself to improving every day, and took full advantage of the opportunity here. Watching him grow into a player ready for four-year baseball, and now the professional level, is incredibly rewarding."
Now, Parry takes the next step in his baseball journey with the Boise Hawks, based in Boise, Idaho. The Hawks finished the 2025 season with a 48–48 record under first-year manager Kash Beauchamp.
Parry's path from COD to four-year programs and now the professional ranks underscores his dedication and perseverance. The Roadrunner community celebrates his achievement and looks forward to following his continued success at the next level.
