Under third-year head coach Jack Steptoe, Desert finished the regular season with a record 6-5 overall and 4-1 in conference. As a reward for winning the American Division-Mountain Conference title and going to the Patriotic Bowl, Coach Steptoe was handed Coach of the Year honors.
COD (6-5) finished the year hosting the Patriotic Bowl and found themselves in a huge hole early, fighting their way back they took a 37-28 lead midway through the 3rd quarter, then the game went sideways, falling to the Monterey Park East Los Angeles Huskies (9-2), 63-37.
Desert will play host to the East Los Angeles Huskies in the Patriotic Bowl on Saturday, November 19, kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Boone Field and tickets are $12.
COD (5-4; 3-1) played their best game of the season at just the same time that the #18 team in the state decided to have their worst game of the season, as the Roadrunners stunned the previously unbeaten Chula Vista Southwestern Jaguars (8-1; 3-1), 51-34.
A winning streak will come to an end this week. It will either be Desert's 2 consecutive wins or Santa Barbara's 3 game streak. Desert heads to Santa Barbara to get that answer. Desert has needed to come down after their dramatic last second win over Antelope Valley last week to prepare for the Vaqueros who are putting up 461 yards of offense a game.
Palm Desert - Roadrunners proved a lot of excitement for their fans at Boone Field Saturday night. Antelope Valley brought their 2-1 record and 5th ranking in the Southern California American Division to College of the Desert where Desert, 9th ranked in SC American Division, were waiting for them.
Palm Desert - Antelope Valley will bring their 2-1 record to Boone Stadium for a contest with College of the Desert. Desert recorded their first win of the season last week with a convincing 61-35 win over West LA.
Culver City, CA - The College of the Desert's Football team had their foot on the gas pedal from the opening kickoff and didn't let off until the game was well in hand. The Roadrunners scored 29 first quarter points starting with an Anthony Ellison 77 yard run :17 seconds into the game.
The Roadrunners are back on the road this week as they travel to Culver City to take on the West LA Wildcats. COD is looking to put one in the win column after 2 hard fought contests against to state ranked teams.
Palm Desert, CA - COD moved the ball well against the 22nd ranked team in the state, but the Road runners saw two drives end inside Valley's 25 yard line without any points.
