Wide Receivers Coach
Samuel Gomez, better known as Coach Sammy, returns to College of the Desert as the wide receivers coach, bringing both passion and experience to the Roadrunners’ program. A proud alum, Gomez was a wide receiver for COD (Class of 2016), giving him a unique perspective on what it means to wear the Roadrunner uniform. His journey from player to coach reflects his deep commitment to the program and his desire to give back to the community that shaped him.
Since beginning his coaching career in 2021, Coach Sammy has dedicated himself to developing receivers who are disciplined, technically sound, and high-IQ players. His approach goes beyond the X’s and O’s, emphasizing personal growth, accountability, and leadership so that student-athletes succeed not just on the field but also in the classroom and in life.
Returning to College of the Desert is more than just a career move for Gomez—it’s a homecoming. Fueled by pride in his alma mater and a drive to help the next generation of Roadrunners reach their full potential, Coach Sammy is ready to push his receivers to compete at the highest level.
