Defensive Line Coach
Coach Darren Seymour brings more than two decades of coaching and leadership experience to the Roadrunner football program, joining the staff as the defensive line coach for the 2024 season. A Palm Desert native, Seymour was a standout three-sport athlete at Palm Desert High School before continuing his football career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
Following his collegiate playing career, Seymour returned to his alma mater, launching his coaching career at Palm Desert High School (1999–2003). Over the years, he has built a strong reputation as both a coach and mentor, serving in multiple roles across the Coachella Valley. He worked as offensive coordinator at Desert Hot Springs High School (2003–2005), coached linebackers and served as assistant defensive coordinator at Cathedral City High School (2006), and was the defensive coordinator at Coachella Valley High School from 2007–2013. Seymour has also remained active in track and field as Coachella Valley High School’s throwers coach, continuing to invest in student-athletes year-round.
From 2015–2017, Seymour first joined the College of the Desert football staff, helping guide the Roadrunners to a conference championship and a Patriot Bowl appearance as part of the defensive coaching unit. In addition to coaching, Seymour has stayed deeply connected to the game by serving as a high school football official for the past seven years, including assignments at the CIF Southern Section Finals in each of the last two seasons.
Seymour is passionate about developing players on and off the field, focusing not only on football fundamentals but also on building character and leadership. He is excited to be back with the College of the Desert football program, where he looks forward to mentoring student-athletes, competing for championships, and helping players succeed both in the classroom and in life.
