College of the Desert Men's Golf continued its strong 2026 campaign with a runner-up finish in a loaded 10-team field at the Eagle Golf Classic, held at Soboba Springs Golf Course. Battling through mid-winter drizzle and dense morning fog, the Roadrunners delivered one of their most complete performances of the season.
COD tied Victor Valley (302) for second place, finishing 11 strokes ahead of Orange Empire Conference rival Orange Coast. Reedley captured the team title with a 7-over 295.
The competitive field featured four of the nine finalists from the 2025 CCCAA State Championship, along with eight Orange Empire Conference programs and two NorCal teams, making the Roadrunners' second-place finish even more impressive.
Leading the way was sophomore Linus Rindestad Utter (Handen, Sweden / Fredrika Bremer Gymnasiet), who fired a season-low 2-under 70 to claim individual medalist honors.
Sophomore Braxton McDonald (Coldstream, BC / Kalamalka Secondary) posted a season-best 3-over 75 to tie for sixth overall.
Sophomore Sinjin Armstrong (La Quinta HS) recorded a 5-over 77, tying his second-best round of the season and finishing tied for 14th.
Rounding out the Roadrunners' lineup:
Logan Marra (Palm Desert HS) — 80 (T-31)
Mason Montgomery (Palm Desert HS) — 82 (T-39)
Phar Vincent (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) — 84 (T-48)
With six sophomores in the lineup, COD continues to show depth and experience as postseason play approaches.
The Roadrunners return to action February 16–18 at The Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio, where they will compete in the prestigious three-day Prestige Tournament, beginning at 8 a.m.
