COD Men’s Golf: Montgomery Fires Career Low as Roadrunners Win Again
The College of the Desert men’s golf team continued its strong conference run, capturing its fourth Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory in the last five events behind a standout performance from sophomore Mason Montgomery.
The College of the Desert men's golf team continued its strong conference run, capturing its fourth Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory in the last five events behind a standout performance from sophomore Mason Montgomery.
Montgomery led the way with a career-best round of 5-under 67, earning medalist honors and pacing a balanced Roadrunner lineup that also saw two players record their second-lowest scores of the season.
COD sent six golfers to the ninth event of the 2026 season and fifth in OEC play, hosted at Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville. The Roadrunners posted a team score of 290 to finish in first place, 14 strokes ahead of host Victor Valley.
Montgomery (Palm Desert H.S.) delivered the round of the day, finishing first individually with his 67.
Sophomore Logan Marra (Palm Desert H.S.) followed closely, carding a 2-under 70, his second-best round of the season—to place second overall.
Linus Rindestad Utter (Handen {SWE} Fredrika Bremer Gymnasiet) added a 4-over 76, finishing tied for sixth.
Phar Vincent (Palm Desert Xavier College Preparatory) turned in a 5-over 77, matching his second-best score of the season and placing tied for ninth.
Braxton McDonald (Coldstream {BC} Kalamalka Secondary) shot a 6-over 78 to finish tied for 13th, while Sinjin Armstrong (La Quinta H.S.) rounded out the lineup with an 8-over 80, placing tied for 17th.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, April 8 at 12 p.m. as they continue conference play at Steele Canyon Golf Course in Jamul.
