David Haines
Assistant Coach

David Haines returns to the Roadrunners family with a diverse background in coaching, athletics, education, and executive leadership. He previously led the Women’s Golf program during the 2023 season after serving as an assistant coach in 2022, helping guide the Roadrunners to a berth in the SoCal Regional Finals and mentoring two student-athletes who qualified for the 3C2A State Championship. In a remarkable season, three of the team’s four golfers earned All–Orange Empire Conference honors, underscoring both the program’s competitive success and Coach Haines’ commitment to player development.

A longtime member at Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert, Coach Haines has been an avid golfer for more than a decade and brings a deep passion for the game to the program. Originally from Sewell, New Jersey, he was a multi-sport athlete who played baseball at Gloucester Catholic High School before continuing his collegiate career at the University of Scranton. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Scranton and later completed a Master of Arts in Industrial and Labor Relations from Rutgers University.

Following his undergraduate studies, Coach Haines broadened his horizons internationally—teaching American History and Literature at a college in Toruń, Poland, and playing professional baseball in Orléans, France, and Vienna, Austria. His coaching résumé also includes time as an Assistant Baseball Coach at Rowan University and at Rutgers University, where he was part of the staff during the program’s transition from the Atlantic 10 Conference to the Big East Conference.

Professionally, Coach Haines built a distinguished 15-year career in Human Resources leadership, beginning at BHP Billiton and continuing with GE Aircraft Engines before joining Amazon. At Amazon, he held senior HR leadership roles across Seattle, Luxembourg, and Munich, Germany, leading large, diverse teams and developing talent in dynamic, global environments. His professional experience informs his coaching philosophy, emphasizing leadership, accountability, personal growth, and preparation for life beyond athletics.

Coach Haines and his wife, Binda, are the proud parents of three children: Carsen (20), Maya (19), and Nolan (14). While baseball remains a lifelong love, golf is his true passion. He and Binda have attended the last two Ryder Cups, and one of his favorite golf memories is playing iconic courses in Northern Ireland and Scotland with close friends from Seattle.

Coach Haines brings global perspective, competitive experience, and a genuine love of mentoring student-athletes as he continues to build the Roadrunners Golf program.
