2017 COD Men's Soccer News
Under the tutelage of first-year coach Enrique Cardenas, Desert Men's Soccer ended the year with a 7-9-4 overall record and a 7-7-2 conference record. As a reward for their fifth place finish in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, the team was bestowed with three All-Conference honors.
COD (6-9-4; 6-7-2) concluded their final home game of 2017, hosting the Oceanside MiraCosta Spartans (6-8-6; 6-5-4) and falling, 2-0
COD (6-5-4; 6-3-2) grabbed their third straight win and Marco Aguilar scored both goals for the Roadrunners as they pushed past the Imperial Valley Arabs (0-10-3; 0-8-2), 2-1.
COD Men’s Soccer freshman midfielder Gustavo Medina (Cathedral City Mt. San Jacinto) was named the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference’s (PCAC) Honorable Mention Male Athlete of the Week for the week of October 23rd.
COD (5-5-4; 5-3-2) put together a strong showing on their home field as they scored three goals in the second half and got a win for their keeper ion his first start, as Desert pushed past the San Diego City Knights (3-8-4; 2-5-4), 4-2.
COD (2-4-4; 2-2-2) scored early and built on that lead, then held on to a tie with the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (6-5-1; 4-1-1), 2-2.
COD (1-3-2) played a tough match, surrendering a goal in the 10th minute and relying on the keeper to hold the game close, the Roadrunners lost a tough one at home, 2-0.
COD (1-2-2) picked a good time for their first win of the 2017 season as they opened up Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with a huge win over a tough San Diego Mesa Olympians (2-1-2) team, 2-1.
COD (0-1-1) hosted their second game of the young season against the Lancaster Antelope Valley Marauders (2-0) on one of the hottest days of the year as all four goals were scored in the first half, with Desert falling, 3-1.
COD (0-0-1) opened up the 2017 Men’s Soccer season with a draw against the Moorpark Raiders (0-0-1), as sophomore midfielder Jesus Murillo Perez (Thermal Coachella Valley) converted a penalty kick attempt in the 78th minute.
