COD Men’s Soccer has claimed the #10 seed and will host their first playoff game since 1999 in the opening round of the SoCal Regional playoffs.

The game will take place off of campus, at Rancho Las Flores Park in the city of Coachella this Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m. The address for Rancho Las Flores Park is 48440 Van Buren St, Coachella, CA 92236. The reason the game cannot take place on the campus of College of the Desert is due to the size requirements to host a home CCCAA Regional Playoff match. The dimensions for the soccer field at the Palm Desert campus are not large enough to accommodate for a home playoff game.
State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. There are no guest passes allowed.

Under the tutelage of second-year head coach Manuel "Pato" Hurtado, the #10 seeded Roadrunners Men's Soccer team ended the 2022 season claiming a 4th place finish in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC).
The Roadrunners finished the regular season, with a 7-6-7 overall record and a 3-3-2 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning or tying 5 of their final 7 games. They were rewarded with the 11 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Desert will face off with a Palomar Comets of San Marcos team that finished the regular season with a record of 11-6-3, the Comets ended the 2022 season in 3rd place the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) with a record of 8-4. The Comets started the season 4-3-3 and have three losses in their last 5 games.
Palomar finished the 2021 season in 2nd place the PCAC with a record of 7-5, with an overall record of 10-8-1. The Comets were most recently in the playoffs in the 2010 season entering the Southern California Regional's as the 11th seed, Palomar lost at #6 Canyons in the first round of Regional's, 3-0. The Comets are coached by David Linenberger in his 6th season.
Desert and Palomar have played each other 41 times since 1979, the most recent time being on November 9, 2018 when both teams were in the PCAC together, the Roadrunners won, 2-0. The Desert vs. Palomar match-up has a unique distinction of holding a rare record anomaly. While Desert holds an overall advantage in the series, 20-16-5, Palomar is the only team that they own a series advantage, but a losing record in home contests, 8-10-2. Meaning, the Comets always play Desert tough in The Coachella Valley.
The winner of Wednesday's first-round contest will advance to the Regional Quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 19), traveling to Huntington Beach to face the #7 seeded Golden West Rustlers. The top 8 seeds that were given a first-round bye. The Regional Semifinals will take place on either Tuesday (Nov. 22) or Wednesday (Nov. 23) and the SoCal Regional Championship will take place on Saturday, November 26. Four wins are needed to advance to the CCCAA Soccer State Championship on Dec. 2 & Dec. 4 at American River College in Northeast Sacramento.
