COD Men’s Tennis skewers the Knights, 7-2

COD (4-1; 2-0) dominated in doubles play and singles as the Roadrunners cruised to a Conference win over the San Diego City Knights (0-4; 0-1), 7-2.

Freshman Kyryll Kryvchun (Vancouver (BC) Learning Network) continued his unbeaten streak in singles play, where he is 5-0, winning in straight sets 6-0 and 6-2. Sophomore Dimitrije Vukovic (Burnaby (BC) Moscrop Secondary) also won in straight sets, but his first set was much easier than his second set, as he won 6-1 and 7-5.

Freshman Brian Johnson (Palm Springs H.S.) won his match in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1 and sophomore Jakob Dvorken (Ridgewood, NJ) also won his match in straight sets 6-2 and 6-1.

Sophomore Joau Luiz Zillo Prado (São Paulo (Brazil) Ateneu) had to take his match to extra sets, as he fell in the first set 6-2, then rebounded nicely in set two, winning 6-4 and dominated in the extra set 10-4. Freshman Joshua Bailin (La Quinta H.S.) put up a real fight, but fell in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-4.

In doubles play, Kryvchurn and Johnson won easily, 8-2 and the duo of Vukovic and Prado had to fight back in their match, but triumphed, 8-5.

The next home match for College of the Desert Men's Tennis will be on February 20th at 2p, where they will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference-North Division (PCAC-North) by hosting the Palomar Comets of San Marcos. Hope to see you there.
