COD Men's Tennis gets back on track with win over Eagles, 7-2
COD (7-2; 7-2) was nearing a milestone two weeks ago, but now the Roadrunners will have an opportunity to begin a new Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) winning streak after winning at home over the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (6-9; 5-5), 7-2.
COD (7-2; 7-2) was nearing a milestone two weeks ago, but now the Roadrunners will have an opportunity to begin a new Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) winning streak after winning at home over the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (6-9; 5-5), 7-2.
The Eagles only showed up with five players for the match, giving Desert 2-points before the first ball was even served. In doubles play, the 1's team of sophomore Gerardo Dominguez (Thermal Coachella Valley) and sophomore Ian Rabtsevich (Minsk (BLR) Gymnasium 30) won easily, 8-3. The 2's team of sophomore Ethan Auger (Ottawa (ON) Nepean) and freshman Travis Pimentel (Indio Shadow Hills) took down the Eagles in a lopsided match, 8-1. The 3's team of freshman Alexandro Beltran (Indio H.S.) and freshman Nathaniel Jimenez (Beaumont H.S.) won in a walkover.
In singles play, Rabtsevich, Dominguez and Pimentel each won their matches easily. Beltran won his match in a walkover.
The next contest for the Roadrunners is a make-up match from February 26th and they will be traveling to the Mt. San Antonio Mounties of Walnut on Monday, March 25, with the match beginning at 2p.
College of the Desert defeated Mt. San Jacinto College, 7-2 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
