2025 Season in Review – COD Softball
Under the tutelage of third-year head coach Kelli Finan, the Roadrunners Softball team ended the 2025 with a 21-14 overall record and a 7-8 conference record, finishing fourth in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference. They were rewarded with 2 First Team selections (Alyssa Martinez Sanchez & Kimberly Rodriguez), 2 Second Team selections (Victoria Talamantes & Arissa Gonzalez) and an Honorable Mention (Cadence Krisell).

The Roadrunners had some notable games in the 2025 season including, winning at LA Valley for the first time in program history, defeating LA Harbor for the first time since 2015, facing Antelope Valley for the first time since 2017 and hosting LA Mission for the first time ever and defeating the Eagles for the first time since 2007.
Utility player Alyssa Martinez Sanchez (La Quinta H.S.) was named First Team All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) finishing the season as the team leader in stolen bases (6) and extra base hits: doubles (11), triples (6), and home runs (2). Also finishing 2nd in Conference in runs batted in (39) and 3rd in Conference in walks (23). She also made 14 appearances in the circle, making 6 starts with a 4-1 record. The 5-foot 8 freshman had 9 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games. Her best performance of the season was a 3 for 3 day, where she had 2 doubles and a home run, punctuated by 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a blowout win at Glendale on March 1.
Second baseman Kimberly Rodriguez (Indio H.S.) was also named First Team All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) finishing the season with top 20 rankings in the State in on base percentage (.571 – 17th) and slugging percentage (.829 – 15th). The 5-foot 5 sophomore had 6 multi-hit games and 3 multi-RBI games. Her best performance of the season was a 3 for 4 day, where she had a double and a triple, along with 4 RBIs and a run scored in a mercy win at San Bernardino Valley on April 4.
Right-handed pitcher Victoria Talamantes (La Quinta H.S.) was once again named Second Team All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) after winning the same award during her freshman season with the Roadrunners. Finishing her Desert career as the ace of the squad in the circle. Kiki's 2 years with the Roadrunners saw her grab 151 strikeouts, (69 in 2024 & 82 in 2025) and this season, a top-10 in the state in strikeouts per game (8.32 – 6th). The 5-foot 6 sophomore would lead the team in innings pitched (85.1), strikeouts (82), games started (11) and wins (7). Talamantes had 11 games where she struck out 5 or more batters. Her most dominant performance of the season arrived on the last day of the season, where she struck out 5 over 2 innings in a 5-1 win at home, over Chaffey on April 18.
Right-handed pitcher and outfielder Arissa Gonzalez (Thermal Coachella Valley) was also once again named Second Team All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) after winning the same award during her freshman season with the Roadrunners. Gonzalez led the team in hits (40) and batting average (.404). The 5-foot 4 sophomore was also a solid #2 starter in the circle, finishing the season 2nd on the team in innings pitched (54.1), strikeouts (25), games started (9) and wins (6). Her best game of the season was a 2 for 3 day, while pitching a complete game in a 6-3 win in the first-half of a double header at San Bernardino Valley on April 4.
Left-handed pitcher and outfielder Cadence Krisell (Blythe Palo Verde Valley) was named Honorable Mention All-IEAC after winning the same award in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) when she was a freshman with the San Diego City Knights. The 5-foot 3 sophomore was a presence in the lineup and in the circle, making 7 starts over the course of the season.
