Game 1: Walk-Off Magic in Extras
COD showed resilience in the opener, tying the game in the bottom of the seventh before walking it off in the eighth.
The top of the Roadrunners' lineup carried the offense, combining to go 8-for-10 with five runs scored and six RBIs:
* Alyssa Martinez Sanchez (So., La Quinta HS) – 2-for-3, 3 runs, RBI
* Danika Cisneros (So., Bermuda Dunes/California Connections Academy) – 3-for-4, run, RBI
* Isabel Inzunza (Fr., Coachella Valley HS) – 3-for-3, run, 4 RBIs
Freshman pinch runner Dominique Moreno (Desert Hot Springs HS) made an immediate impact in her Roadrunner debut, scoring the game-tying run in the seventh to force extra innings.
In the circle, Martinez Sanchez went the distance, tossing all eight innings. The sophomore right-hander struck out 10, allowed seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, and walked just one to secure her first win of the season.
Game 2: Eight-Run Sixth Seals the Sweep
If game one was dramatic, game two was explosive.
Trailing late, COD erupted for an eight-run sixth inning to complete the sweep in a 16–15 slugfest.
Freshman right fielder Irie Gonzalez (Indio HS) sparked the offense with a two-run home run to left-center in the third inning. She finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs from the seven spot in the lineup.
Additional offensive standouts included:
* Jenna Bell (Fr., La Quinta HS) – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs
* Nevaeh Walls (Fr., Shadow Hills HS) – 1-for-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 2 walks
* Tatiana Salinas (So., Rancho Mirage HS) – 1-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs
The Roadrunners pounded out contributions up and down the lineup, showcasing both depth and grit in securing the comeback victory.
COD returns home on February 20 to host the Antelope Valley College Marauders in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
With two comeback wins under their belt, the Roadrunners are beginning to find their rhythm early in the season and proving they can win in any fashion.
