COD Women’s Golf finishes 5th at SoCal Finals, will send 2 to State Championship
COD wrapped up the 2016 season at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, with the team score just shy of sending everyone to the CCCAA State Finals next week, but two members of the team will be there, proudly representing the Roadrunners.
COD wrapped up the 2016 season at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, with the team score just shy of sending everyone to the CCCAA State Finals next week, but two members of the team will be there, proudly representing the Roadrunners.
Desert finished with 738 points, which was 22 strokes short of 4th place Saddleback, only the top four teams from each Regional Finals made the cut to go to Morro Bay on November 13-14.
The Roadrunners will be sending freshman Li Chi Liu (Palm Desert H.S.) and sophomore Kabrea Rosas (La Quinta H.S.) to Morro Bay next week as the both finished in the top-10. Liu, the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year, grabbed an impressive third place finish, totaling 152 strokes over the two day tournament. She bested a fellow PCAC player from Cuyamaca by one stroke.
Rosas, a PCAC All-Conference selection, finished a very impressive seventh place, as she dropped 5-strokes from her Monday effort to total 159 strokes over the two day tournament.
Freshman Rhiannon Celaya (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) shot a 213, good enough for 50th, dropping an impressive 11–strokes from her Monday effort, knocking off her fellow Roadrunner, sophomore Dominique Healey (Murrieta Mesa), by one-stroke. Healey shot a steady 214, as she shot a 106 on Monday and a 108 on Tuesday, finishing 51st.
Shooting a 237 for the two day tournament was freshman Alexa Perez (Indio Shadow Hills) and freshman Jessica Garday (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 247 to wrap up the afternoon for the Roadrunners.
