The College of the Desert Women's Golf Team capped off the 2025 season by competing in the 3C2A Women's Golf State Championship at the picturesque River Course at The Alisal in Solvang. The championship, originally scheduled for two full rounds, was ultimately shortened to just one day of competition due to inclement weather sweeping the region.
The lone representative for Desert was freshman Daisy Castro (La Quinta H.S.). Amid challenging conditions and a reduced event schedule, Castro posted a total of 93 strokes for the day, earning a tie for 42nd overall. Her composure and perseverance on one of California's more demanding collegiate women's courses reflect a strong foundation for future seasons.
Although the weather altered the format, the River Course at The Alisal provided a fitting stage for postseason competition—its rolling terrain, coastal influences and dramatic design elements offering a true test of strategic shot-making. Competing among top programs in the 3C2A, Castro's participation is a testament to the Roadrunners commitment to building a women's golf program capable of standing on this stage.
Looking ahead, this experience will serve as a springboard for both Castro and her teammates. The challenges of navigating wind, rain-shortened format, and pressure-filled conditions will only add fuel to the Roadrunners offseason preparation. With the foundation in place and postseason exposure secured, the team is poised to make even greater strides in 2026.
Congratulations to Castro and the COD Women's Golf Team on a strong finish to the season, and thank you to our coaches, support staff, and community for helping our Roadrunner golfers reach the state level.
