Whether or not sports are to be played this fall due to COVID-19, Roadrunners Head Coach Garett Estrin is building something special for his student-athletes... a strong support system that ensures success in the classroom with the goal of getting a degree.
The recruiting process was very different for this coming season as the Roadrunners coaching staff held a virtual signing via Zoom. Coach Estrin continues to keep in close contact with his team on a weekly basis monitoring each student-athletes' mental and physical well-being.
Below the list of COD's latest recruits:
Dalaina Johnson - Cathedral City High School (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Cathedral City HS. Very strong athletic player who can be a goal scorer when needed. 2017 scored 17 goals in 29 games, 2018 1st Team All DVL 24 goals in 22 games, 2019 DVL Offensive MVP 27 goals in 21 games & 2020 DVL Offensive Co-MVP 30 goals in 18 games. For a total of 98 goals in her 4 year VAR career in 88 games. Sister is a COD Soccer Alum.)
Daniela Rodriguez - Coachella Valley High School, Thermal (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Coachella Valley HS. 2020 DVL Champs, played as an outside marking back, also scored 2 goals in 2 seasons, 2020 All DVL 2nd Team, DEF. Sister is a 2 year COD Soccer Alum.)
Jocelyn Bedolla - Coachella Valley High School, Thermal (Coaches Assesment: Coachella Valley HS Class of 2020. Defensive Center-Mid, 2020 DVL Champs, 2020 All DVL 1st Team, scored 4 goals & 4 assist in 2020 & 2 goals & 4 assist in 2019.)
Helen Benitez-Lopez - Shadow Hills High School, Indio (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Shadow Hills HS. 2020 Div 6 CiF SS Semifinalist, 2020 All DEL Honorable Mention.)
Samantha Zamudio - Coachella Valley High School, Thermal (Coaches Assesment: Coachella Valley HS Class of 2020. DVL Champ, physical playing Fwd scored 4 goals on the season.)
Montserrath Salazar - Indio High School (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Indio HS. Quote from Bri Alcorn COD Alum & Indio Asst Coach: "Very dedicated player, she has speed and is very aggressive and does not give up on the ball")
Citali Ponce - Shadow Hills High School, Indio (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Shadow Hills HS. 2020 Div 6 CiF SS Semifinalist Strong offensive Senior season with 18 goals & 4 assist, after only scoring 1 in her Junior season. Solid play maker, 2020 1st Team All DEL Team.)
Alexia Ortiz - Coachella Valley High School, Thermal (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Coachella Valley HS. 2020 DVL Champs, totaled 12 goals with 12 assist, 2020 All DVL 2nd Team FWD, scored 10 goals and 2 assist in 2019, Co-DeAnza Champ 6 goals and 1 assist in 2018.)
Britny Gutierrez - Desert Hot Springs High School (Coaches Assesment: Desert Hot Springs HS Class of 2020. Tough nosed physical defender, 2018 All De Anza Honorable Mention, 2019 All DVL HM, 2020 All DVL HM. Sister is a COD Soccer Alum.)
Amara Mike - Palm Desert High School (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Palm Desert HS. Co-DEL Champs, 2020 1st Team All DEL Goalkeeper, had 9 shutouts on the season, will come in & compete for a starting spot in the goal.)
Isabel Castillo - Cathedral City High School (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Cathedral City HS. 2019 DVL Champs, 2019 All DVL 2nd Team, solid holding Center-Mid that can also play on the back-line, 2020 All DVL 2nd Team)
Alondra Villareal - Desert Mirage High School, Thermal (Coaches Assesment: Desert Mirage HS Class of 2020. A solid 1 on 1 defender, 2019 Div 7 CiF SS Champions.)
Litzi Franco - Palm Desert High School (Coaches Assesment: Class of 2020 Palm Desert HS. DEL Co-Champs scored 2 goals & 2 assist as FWD/Mid.)
Ilyne Saenz - Shadow Hills High School, Indio (Coaches Assesment:Shadow Hills HS Class of 2020. Defender who scored 3 goals on the season, 2020 Div 6 CiF SS Semifinalist.)
Sophia Molina - Rancho Mirage High School (Coaches Assesment: Rancho Mirage HS Class of 2020. Played Club Soccer for Legends FC Riverside & played at Valley View HS making CiF, solid technical outside Midfielder.)
"Our 2020 recruiting class is very exciting, I think potentially one of the best in my 6 years. Coupled with the returners coming back from 2019, this recruiting class can hopefully make a huge impact in our overall goal of getting our program to the next level. I think this 2020 class could really blend well with last years group to pack a big punch, and create an exciting season for the Roadrunners," Women's Soccer Head Coach Garett Estrin.
