COD (0-2) returned home for the first time since March of 2016, continuing Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play, this time against the San Diego City Knights (2-1), where the Roadrunners fell, 7-2.
Freshman Andrea Rapan (Thermal Coachella Valley) and freshman Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) dominated their doubles match, grabbing an 8-2 victory. The doubles team of freshman Ana Laura Ochoa-Castillo (Albuquerque (NM) Atrisco Heritage Academy) and freshman Daniela Ramirez (Cathedral City H.S.) played an impressive back-and-forth match, but fell, 8-6.
In singles action, Stepien won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 and Rapan fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Annaya Zubick (Palm Springs H.S.) fought hard in her match as she lost her first set 8-6, then demolished her opponent in set two, 6-1, taking her match to a deciding third set, where she lost 10-3.
Freshman Sariah Sanchez (Indio Shadow Hills) lost 6-0 in her first set, then went the limit in her second set, falling 7-5.
Ochoa-Castillo win her first set, 6-4, then fell in her second set 6-4, and in the deciding third set, she went the distance in fighting back, but fell, 10-8. Ramirez lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.
SDCC defeated College of the Desert 7-2, in a PCAC women's tennis dual match at College of the Desert.
