COD (7-6; 7-6) swept the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) season series against the Southwestern Jaguars (5-9; 3-8), 7-2.
In doubles play, the team of freshman Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Andrea Rapan (Thermal Coachella Valley) rolled in their match, 8-1. The team of freshman Annaya Zubick (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Sariah Sanchez (Indio Shadow Hills) handily won their doubles match, 8-4 and the team of freshman Daniela Ramirez (Cathedral City H.S.) and freshman Ana Laura Ochoa-Castillo (Albuquerque (NM) Atrisco Heritage Academy) battled in their match, winning, 8-6.
In singles play, Stepien won effortlessly in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0 and Rapan struggled in her singles match, falling 6-3 and 6-4. Zubick also won easily 6-0 and 6-2 and Sanchez had to bounce back from a second set loss, dominating in the extra set, 6-0. Ochoa-Castillo and Ramirez won their matches in hotly contested sets.
The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be on the road on March 29th at 2p, where they will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) by traveling to the Grossmont Griffins of La Mesa.
