COD Women’s Tennis knocks off Rio Hondo, 8-1

COD (2-0) resumed play with a dominate victory on the road over the Rio Hondo Roadrunners of Whittier (1-3), 8-1.

In doubles play, the 1's team of freshman Sophie Cordova (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Lindsey Lopez (Downers Grove {IL} North) won easily, 8-3. The 3's team of sophomore Mia Castillo and sophomore Liliana Ruiz had a hard-fought victory, winning 9-7.

In singles play, COD won in straight sets against Rio Hondo, with freshman Sofia Campbell (El Cajon Cabrillo Point Academy) winning 6-2, 6-0, and freshman Sofia Torres (Indio H.S.) winning 6-0, 6-1. COD also won the rest of their matches in straight sets.

The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be at home, where the Roadrunners will play on February, 12th at 1p against the Orange Coast Pirates of Costa Mesa.
