PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert women's volleyball opened their 2015 home schedule with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16) victory over Cuyamaca Wednesday evening in Palm Desert.
After suffering a tough loss in set one, the Lady Roadrunners took control for the rest of the match. Freshman Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) led the attack with 12 kills and three service aces, while fellow freshman Angelica Sayo (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier College Prep HS) added 10 kills and 16 assists.
Sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs) dished out 24 assists and landed three service aces, with three additional Lady Roadrunners drilling at least five kills: freshman Mary Pientka (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS) had six, while sophomore Yajaira Lopez (Desert Hot Springs, CA/Desert Hot Springs HS) and freshman Hannah Laliberte (La Quinta, CA/La Quinta HS) each had five.
