PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert women's volleyball fought through a fierce match with visiting Rio Hondo on Friday evening, coming away with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-22) victory on Sophomore Night in Palm Desert.
Freshman Savannah Sharp (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) led the way with 19 kills and three digs, including the match-clinching point in the fourth set. Freshman Angelica Sayo (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier College Prep HS) added nine kills and 19 digs, while sophomore Yajaira Lopez (Desert Hot Springs, CA/DHSHS) recorded seven.
Sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) aided the Lady Roadrunner offense by supplying 40 assists and four service aces to go along with her 15 digs. Freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) recorded 22 digs and four assists.
College of the Desert finishes second in the Foothill Conference with a final record of 10-11 and 7-3.
