2023 COD Women's Volleyball News
Under eight-year head coach Detlev Rothe, Desert finished the regular season with a record 11-14 overall and 7-5 in conference. The Roadrunners placed 3rd in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC).
COD (11-13; 7-4) had five players collect season highs as the Roadrunners had some revenge on an earlier season loss by knocking off the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (10-9; 6-5), 3-1 (25-21, 11-25, 25-16, 25-13).
COD (10-12; 6-4) had a balanced day from key players, as the Roadrunners collected their 4th consecutive sweep of their opponents and their 5th sweep of the season, pushing past the Copper Mountain Fighting Cacti of Joshua Tree (0-12; 0-9), 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-9).
COD (9-12; 5-4) grabbed their fifth sweep of the 2023 season and it was golden as head coach Detlev Rothe continued his run of being the most successful coach in Desert Volleyball history, by securing a milestone 100th career coaching win.
COD (8-12; 4-4) received big contributions from everyone, as the Roadrunners collected their 4th sweep of the season, pushing past the Chaffey Panthers of Rancho Cucamonga (6-15; 3-5), 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-21).
COD (7-9; 3-1) dropped their first set, then dominated in the next three as the Roadrunners played their tenth game on the road, defeating the Chaffey Panthers of Rancho Cucamonga (3-12; 0-2), 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-15).
COD (4-8) traveled to Sylmar to face off with a pair of teams, falling in their first match of the day to host LA Mission and then winning a 4-set match over the San Diego Miramar Jets.
COD (2-5) traveled to the Pirates Quad making easy work of the Glendale Vaqueros (1-4) and falling in the night cap against the Orange Coast Pirates (5-1).
COD (2-4) hosted the inaugural Roadrunners Tri and made quick work of the Imperial Valley Arabs (0-2) and then struggled in the night cap against the Long Beach City Vikings (2-0) as the Roadrunners split the pair on a rainy afternoon.
In an effort to better “serve” our community, the College of the Desert Women’s Volleyball Program, hosted a skills camp July 28, 2023, at the Cathedral City, Salvation Army.
COD Women’s Volleyball outside hitter Kaila Sandy (La Quinta H.S.) has signed a letter of intent with Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut.
