Estrada, a setter from American Leadership Academy in Queen Creek, AZ, made her mark at COD as a leader in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was named Honorable Mention All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference in both her freshman and sophomore seasons of indoor play.
In her sophomore campaign, Estrada started 22 of 23 matches, finishing 2nd in the conference and 39th in the state with 504 assists. She recorded a career-high 39 assists at Mt. San Jacinto and a career-best 5 service aces in a sweep over Cerro Coso. As a freshman, she led the conference with 6.89 assists per set and had 14 matches with 20+ assists.
"I'm incredibly thankful for my time at College of the Desert," Estrada shared. "It helped shape me into the player and person I am today. I'm excited for the next chapter at Park Gilbert."
COD Head Coach Detlev Rothe praised Estrada's leadership and competitive spirit: "Ashley is a fierce competitor with a great court sense and a relentless work ethic. Her consistency elevated our team every time she stepped on the court."
Estrada joins the Park Gilbert Buccaneers, members of the NAIA's Great Southwest Athletic Conference. The program, coached by Pisila Tukia, competes in both indoor and beach volleyball at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa.
Congratulations Ashley! The Roadrunner family is proud of you and can't wait to see what's next.
