COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 15th at Mt. SAC Invitational

COD moved onto their fourth event of the 2016 season at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut for the Mt. SAC Invitational, where the team finished 15th overall on the 5k course.

Desert moved onto their fifth event of the 2016 season at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut for the Mt. SAC Invitational, where the team finished 15th overall on the 5k course.

The Roadrunners finished with 381 points, besting their nearest competition by nine points and outpacing Fullerton College by 53 points.

Grabbing the top spot for Desert in Walnut was sophomore Viridiana Ciriaco (Indio H.S.) improved 2.1 seconds over last week's finish time, collecting 51st place finish and a time of 21:24.5.

Finishing a strong 62nd place and dropping 12.1 seconds off of her previous best was freshman Lena Saucedo (Wingate de Academy) who collected a time of 22:09.7 and freshman Maria Cruz-Cuevas (Salton City West Shore), who crossed the finish line at 24:00.4, knocking off 1:40.4 off of her previous best, good enough for 80th place.

Freshman Vanessa Pedroza (Indio Shadow Hills) wrapped up a 89th place finish with a time of 25:27.9, which was 2:03 better than her previous best and freshman Alyssa Ruiz (La Quinta H.S.) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 27:43.8, finishing in 99th place.

Freshman Stephanie Rosales (Palm Springs H.S.) and sophomore Shanik Jaimes (La Quinta Horizon Independent) finished 100th and 101st for the Roadrunners on the afternoon.
