COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 5th at PCAC Finals, move onto SoCal Finals

The Roadrunners 5th place finish at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships, guarantees Desert a spot at the SoCal Finals at Irvine Regional Park in Orange on November 4th.
Just as impressive was the top-10 finish for sophomore Viridiana Ciriaco (Indio H.S.) who bolted to an eighth place finish with a time of 21:49.4, a full two second ahead of her nearest competition on the 5k course.
Desert participated in their fifth event of the 2016 season at Mission Bay in San Diego for the PCAC Finals. The Roadrunners finished with 138 points, besting their nearest opponent by six points and outpacing Grossmont College by 32 points.
Finishing a strong 21st place was freshman Ana Nieto (Palm Desert H.S.) who collected a time of 23:51.7 and freshman Maria Cruz-Cuevas (Salton City West Shore), who crossed the finish line at 25:15.3, was good enough for 32nd place.
Sophomore Kenia Lucero (La Quinta H.S.) wrapped up a 39th place finish with a time of 26:14.6 and freshman Vanessa Pedroza (Indio Shadow Hills) wrapped up the top five for Desert with a time of 26:51.0, finishing in 45th place.
Sophomore Manigee Javan (Cathedral City H.S.) and freshman Stephanie Rosales (Palm Springs H.S.) finished 54th and 57th for the Roadrunners on the afternoon.
