COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 22nd at SoCal Finals

COD entered their final event of the 2017 season at Central Park in Santa Clarita for the CCCAA Southern California Championship, where the team finished 22nd overall on the 5k course.

The Roadrunners finished with 586 points, outpacing fellow Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) team, Palomar College, by 2 points.

Grabbing the top spot for Desert in Santa Clarita was All-PCAC selection freshman Brandie Lopez (La Quinta H.S.), collecting an 82nd place finish and a time of 22:08.3.

All-PCAC selection, freshman Naibe Ruelas (Indio H.S.), crossed the finish line at 22:19.5, good enough for 87th place and sophomore Lena Saucedo (Tampa (FL) Wingate De Academy), with a 116th place finish and a time of 24:04.0.

Sophomore Maria Cruz Cuevas (Salton City West Shores) grabbed a 148th place finish, with a time of 26:36.5 and freshman Elisa Polanco (La Quinta H.S.), wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 27:23.5, finishing in 153rd place.

Freshman Karla Garcia (Palm Desert H.S.) finished 165th for the Roadrunners on the afternoon.
