COD (5-0) defeated the Grossmont Griffins (3-6), 8-1, solidifying their place on top of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.
In doubles play, the team of sophomore Kalman Boyd (Solana Beach Fusian Academy) and freshman Alex Kuperstein (Palm Desert H.S.) easily won, 8-0. The team of freshman Syed Hosain (Abu Dhabi (UAE) GEMS American Academy) and freshman Sebastian Gomez Romero (Palm Desert H.S.) played a close match but, took the win, 8-6. Finishing doubles play for the Roadrunners, the team of freshman Saar Rogovski (Rosh HaAyin (ISR) Menachem Begin) and freshman Nicolas Garcia (Palm Desert H.S.) won, 8-5.
In singles play, Kupersteing easily won, allowing a single point for Grossmont, defeating his opponent, 6-1 and 6-0. With the most dominating performance of the singles event, Boyd crushed his opponent in straights sets, 6-0 and 6-0. The next three matches for Desert were on pace with the Roadrunners winning ways as Rogovski, Romero, and Hosain all won in straight sets. Garcia battled throughout his match, playing into an extra set but was unable to finish a sweep of Grossmont, losing 6-7, 6-0, and 10-7.
The next match for College of the Desert Men's Tennis will be at home on February 28th at 2p, where they will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) as they face the Imperial Valley Arabs.
