COD Women's Volleyball holds on for win over Rams, 3-1
COD (7-8; 2-2) fought back from being down in the fourth set to grab their 7th win of the season, as Desert knocked off the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (7-4; 1-2), 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 16-25, 25-23).

The Roadrunners played against the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville for the first time in program history in 1976 and hold a 22-41 overall record against them. Desert has a 14-18 record against the Rams at home. The Roadrunners split the season series with Victor Valley in 2023, each team winning their home contests.
Freshman outside hitter Clairie Thomas (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with her 8th double-digit night in kills of the season with 11 kills, also setting a season high in service aces with 6 and grabbing her 7th double-digit digs night of the season with 15, tying her second best effort of the season. Sophomore outside hitter Bella Branconier (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) set a career high for service aces with 6 on the night, besting her previous record of 5 from earlier this season and collected 5 kills and 8 digs. Freshman middle blocker Alyssia Castro (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) tied a season high in kills and service aces with 4 kills and 2 service aces and had her 4th multi-solo block game of the season, leading the team with 2. Sophomore setter Ashley Estrada (Queen Creek (AZ) American Leadership Academy) led the team with her 7th match with 25 or more set assists, collecting 28 on the night plus 2 service aces and 2 assist blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Alexia Siani-Rader (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) had her 5th double-digit night in kills of the season with 10 kills, also grabbing 6 digs and sophomore libero Sophia Gilbert (Palm Desert H.S.) tied a career high in digs with 6. Sophomore middle blocker Stacie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) had her 5th multi-block assists night with 3, also grabbing 4 kills and sophomore defensive specialist Ashley Amidei (Indio Shadow Hills) tied a season high with 2 service aces.
The next match-up for the Roadrunners will be at the Chaffey Panthers of Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, October 9 at 5p as they continue Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) play. The Roadrunners have a six game winning streak over Chaffey, going back to the 2021 season, compiling an 18-5 set record over the Panthers during that stretch. Desert first competed against Chaffey in 1976, when both teams were in the Inland Valley Conference, and hold a 32-31 overall record against them. Desert has a 12-18 record against the Panthers in Rancho Cucamonga.
The next home game for the Roadrunners will be on Friday, October 18 at 5p, continuing IEAC play, by hosting the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines. The Roadrunners first competed against San Bernardino Valley in 1976, when San Bernardino Valley was named the Indians, and Desert holds a 34-30 overall record against them. Desert has a 17-15 record against San Bernardino Valley in Palm Desert.
