From 2013 to 2022, COD dominated the all-time series, winning 17 straight matches and dropping just four sets during that stretch. However, the Wolverines had recently flipped the script, winning the last four meetings, until now. The Roadrunners emphatically snapped SBVC's streak with a commanding sweep.
Sophomore middle blocker Madyson Duran (Rancho Mirage H.S.) was a force at the net, setting a career high with five solo blocks while adding three kills and two assist blocks. Freshman libero Isabella Rosales (Shadow Hills H.S.) served up a season-high two aces to spark COD's early momentum.
Sophomore outside hitter Clairie Thomas (La Quinta H.S.) continued her dominant run with her sixth match this season recording 19 or more kills, along with two aces and 11 digs. Freshman setter Juliette Rothe (Xavier College Prep) kept the offense humming with 21 assists, adding three aces, nine digs, and two kills of her own.
Contributing on both ends, freshman right side Faiyth Robinson (Desert Christian Academy) tallied nine digs, while freshman middle blocker Jackie Leon (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman outside hitter Leslie Delgado (Coachella Valley H.S.) combined for seven kills to round out the balanced attack.
Next up, the Roadrunners host the Cerro Coso Coyotes this Friday, October 24 at 5 p.m. at the COD Gym. In their first meeting in Ridgecrest, COD outlasted the Coyotes in a five-set thriller. This time, the Roadrunners look to keep the momentum going in this Warner Bros.–style matchup of Roadrunners vs. Coyotes.
