Palm Desert, CA November 16, 2017 – Third year head coach Garrett Estrin guided his team to a 4-17 overall record and a 0-10 conference record. With their sixth place finish, the team was bestowed three All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors.
COD (4-17; 0-10) concluded the 2017 season on Sophomore Night, under the lights of Boone Field, hosting the San Diego Miramar Jets (6-14-1; 3-6-1) and falling, 1-0.
COD (4-12) grabbed the 100th win in program history and Jianna Guerrero had a hat trick, as Desert scored four goals in the first half and throttled the Imperial Valley Arabs (0-14-1), 8-0.
COD (2-12) was led by Melita Pena, who scored both goals, and Taylor Doyle, who had both assists for the Roadrunners, as they fell at home to the Chula Vista Southwestern Jaguars (13-0-2), 7-2.
COD (1-8; 0-4) faced an offensive assault, but turned away 11 of 13 shots on goal and tied the game on Maira Fuentes' first goal of the season, but the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (3-4-1; 2-1-1) were too much for the home side, as the Roadrunners fell, 2-1.
COD (1-5; 0-1) opened up PCAC – North play with last year’s offensive player of the year scoring for the Roadrunners, but the team falling in a tough loss to the San Marcos Palomar Comets (2-3-1; 1-0), 4-1.
COD (1-4) had held a 4-2 lead going into the 68th minute, but three goals in seven minutes by the Walnut Mt. San Antonio Mounties (1-2-1) dashed the Roadrunners hopes of an upset, 5-4.
The 1st match of the season was tough but after covering 720miles of driving from So Cal to the Coast & the central part of the state, we ended it on a high note!
